“Nutrition is the intake of food, considered in relation to the body’s dietary needs” (WHO, 2015)
Nutritional therapy is the science of applying nutrition to individuals to promote health and help them achieve peak performance. It is based on the belief that our bodies are affected by our lifestyle including what we eat. By changing how we live and what we eat we can alter the health of our bodies.
As a nutritional therapist I work with several tools (including kinesiology) to assess and establish possible imbalances in the body in order to understand which may contribute to a person’s symptoms and make recommendations on how to correct these imbalances. As each individual is unique, with a set of symptoms and a unique health history, each person will follow a different program to achieve their health goals.
There may be many areas where nutritional therapy may be beneficial and it is generally considered to have a positive impact on a number of health concerns such as
Allergies and intolerances
Chronic fatigue
Digestive disorders
Energy levels
Female Health
Immunity
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Male Health
Mood imbalances
PMS
Pre-conception and fertility
Skin conditions
Stress management
Weight Management
Your nutritional consultations with me will include an initial 90 minute session where we look at your lifestyle, medical history and establish your health goals. Recommendations may include further testing, food choices, supplements and lifestyle changes that will help you can achieve the goals that you set for yourself. This will be followed by further 60 minute sessions (number will vary depending on your health needs) where we check in to see how you are managing and make tweaks if necessary.
